CEDAR CITY

Private Gerry Irwin was returning to his barracks in El Paso, Texas from
Idaho, when he saw a glowing object come down in a field. Thinking he was
seeing an airplane crash, he stopped, left a note in his car requesting
that someone call the police, and wrote "STOP" in large letters on the
side of his car with shoe polish.
An hour and a half later, the Cedar City Sheriff found Irwin unconscious
in the field. There was no sign of an airplane crash.
Irwin re-awoke in the hospital, unable to explain what had occurred. Six
week after the incident, he returned to the site and found his coat in the
field. Oddly, he then went into town and reported to the Sheriff, as if he
had forgotten everything that had happened since the incident. It was as
if he had snapped out of some sort of "trance."
In August, after other incidents, Private Irwin failed to report for duty
and was listed as a deserter. He was never seen again.

DUCHESNE

(RDUP7/21/96)
A "long rectangular pie plate" UFO was seen near Duchesne, Utah
(population 1,700). This object also had "eight big circles" or
protuberances on the belly, stretching 30 feet from the craft's center to
its stern. Witnesses also reported "brightness" near the stern.
The rancher and his wife spied the UFO at 2 a.m. as it hovered "about a half-mile from the house." The vehicle, which they described as 40 feet long, emitted a probe, "a triangular object with blue lights." The probe flew over their feedlot, "and the cows just about went plumb crazy." The wife ran back inside the farmhouse and grabbed their videocam. According to O'Brien, she managed to shoot 25 seconds of flim, showing the probe flying over the couple's corral, circling the horses.
"He's been visited before," O'Brien said of the man he interviewed. "He had seven cattle mutilations during 1995. He says he'd had enough. He's ready to sell."

SAINT GEORGE

(Magonia)
A hospiatl employee was driving to Salt Lake City when he heard a noise
similar to that of a truck, but saw nothing. Then a yellow light became
visible to the left, and thinking that it was a jet plane about to crash,
he got out and saw it stop 30 meters away at 30 meters altitude. It was
shaped like an inverted bowl with a dome on top and looked metallic. The
witness became afraid and emtied his .25 Berretta pistol in the direction
of the craft. he heard the bullets hit metal and the object took off at
great speed. When he told his story at a nearby service station, the
attendant replied that there had been about 20 reports in the area
recently.
SALT LAKE CITY
10/2/61
(McDonald)
A midday sighting of a lens-shaped object involving one airborne witness
and seven witnesses on the ground became headline news in Salt Lake City.
Accounts of the incident have been summarized elsewhere. A private pilot,
Mr. Waldo J. Harris, was taking off on Runway 160 at Utah Central Airport
at almost exactly noon on 10/2/61 when he noted what he at first idly
viewed as a distant airplane. He noted it again in the same area just
after becoming airborne, once more after gaining some altitude, and then
became somewhat puzzled that it had not exhibited any appreciable change
of position. About then it seemed to tilt, glinting in the noonday sun,
and exhibiting a shape unlike any aircraft. To get a better view, Harris
climbed towards the southeast and found himself at its altitude when he
was somewhat above 6000 ft. By then it appeared as a biconvex metallic
gray object, decidedly different from conventional aircraft, so he radioed
back to the airport, where eventually seven persons were taking turns
viewing it with binoculars. Jay W. Galbraith, operator of the airport,
with his wife, watched the object, along with Robert G. Butler, another of
those at the airport. As Harris attempted to close in, he got to a minimal
distance that he thought might have been approximately two or three miles
from the object, when it abruptly rose vertically by about 1000 ft, a
maneuver confirmed by the ground witnesses. They indicated that it took
only a second or perhaps less to ascend. Just before the abrupt rise,
Harris had been viewing the object on an essentially dead-level line of
sight, with distant Mt. Nebo behind it, a significant feature of the case,
as will be brought out in a moment.
Before Harris could close his distance much more, the object began moving off to the southeast at a speed well above his light-plane top speed. It was soon an estimated ten miles or so away, but Harris continued his attempt to close. However, after seeming to hover a short time in its new location , it began rising and moving westward, at an extremely rapid speed, and passed out of sight aloft to the southwest in only a few seconds. Some, but not all of the ground witnesses, observed this final fast climb-out. Military jets were called, but the object had gone before they arrived.
Both Harris and the ground observers using binoculars attested to lack of wings or tail, and to the biconvex side view. Harris said he had the impression its surface resembled "sand-blasted aluminum", but his closest view was about 2-3 miles away, and its estimated size was put at about 50-60 ft diameter (and only a tenth as thick) so the impression of surface texture must be regarded as uncertain. AIl witnesses confirmed that the object "wobbled" during its hovering. Jay Galbraith said that, when Harris' Mooney Mark 20A was only a speck, they could see the disc rather easily by naked eye, suggesting that its size may have been substantially larger than Harris' estimated 50 ft. Galbraith's recollection of its final departure was that it climbed at a very steep angle, perhaps within about 20degrees of the vertical, he thought. Butler also recalled the final departure and stressed that it was a surprisingly steep climb-out, quite beyond any known jet speed. All remarked on 10/2/61 being a beautifully clear day.

TREMONTON
7/2/52
(UFO Encyclopedia)
Warrant Officer and Navy photographer Delbert C. Newhouse and his wife
were driving along a road seven miles from Tremonton when they spotted a
formation of brilliant objects, clear against a bright blue sky. Thwere
round and unlike any aircraft Newhouse had ever seen.
Using a 16mm camera and telephoto lens, Newhouse shot forty feet of film of the objects maneuvering. It was submitted to Project Bluebook for evaluation, and was studied for three months by the Photo Reconnaissance Laboratory at Dayton, Ohio. There was no evidence of a hoax, and the film could not be duplicated by the experts at Dayton.
