A 37-year-old man had just put his car in the garage when he saw an object about 100 meters in diameter, shaped like a disk, which flew on front of the moon in a northerly direction at about 80 km per hour. It was surrounded with orange lights that weakened as a blue source came on, very intense for about 3 seconds , then all lights disappeared as the object was about 700 meters away. This was followed by a sort of "shock-wave" effect, and tree leaves were shaken. The witness enetered his house and called the Air Force. twenty minutes later his vision became hazy and his eyes were painful. he gradually lost vision in both eyes, and his entire body was "sunburned." Medical examination compared these symptoms to ultraviolet exposure. His vision came back gradually over a period of several days.

BOSWELL

A UFO incident, possibly involving "missing time," occurred in Boswell, Pennsylvania on July 16, 1996. The town of Boswell (population 1,480) is located in the Appalachian Mountains on Pennsylvania Highway 601, about fifteen miles southwest of Johnstown. The incident involved an elderly couple, George and Edna P. and three of their neighbors.

According to George, a World War II veteran, "There were five diamond-shaped objects varying in pulsating lights of blue, red and green. They were soundless. About 180 feet (54.5 meters) up (above ground). They came and went at high rates of speed."

George tried to look at them through a pair of binoculars. He said he "couldn't take his eyes off the UFOs" and "an overwhelming fear came over me." Suddenly, three jets appeared on the horizon, and the UFOs took off "at an incredible speed." The objects' departure was also seen by three of their neighbors.

Although he has "long been a skeptic," considering UFOs "so much tomfoolery," George has been troubled by the encounter. After the sighting, he said, "I noticed that my watch was an hour off." He has also reported having recurring dreams in which a shadowy someone shoves something in his nose. In addition, since the encounter, Edna has developed a muscular problem with her arm that her doctor cannot explain.

At 10:30 p.m. Eastern time, a 19-year-old male driver heading east on Route 76, the Pennsylvania Turnpike, spotted a UFO just north of the highway. He said, "I looked up and saw a huge black triangle. It was not moving. It had a bright light at each tip."

At the time of the sighting, the witness was heading home after a visit to his girl friend's house in Pittsburgh. There were no other cars on the road. The UFO was seen hovering above the Conodoguinet River, about two miles west of Carlisle, near the Army base.

At the time he spotted the UFO, the witness was listening to a cassette. He reported no interference with the car's electrical system. "I did hear a buzzing in my left ear, though," he said. "I saw it for at least three minutes. As I pulled over to stop, the UFO disappeared."

CHAMBERSBURG

A disc-shaped UFO was seen in Chambersburg, a city 27 miles southeast of Fannettsburg. At 7:45 p.m., A woman in McConnellsburg looked out her window, using a pair of binoculars, and saw a bright light. At first she thought it was Jupiter or Venus, but then "it moved hastily across the sky in less than two minutes. That was not a planet."

"The first time I saw it, it was moving east and (then) it was heading back west," the witness said. "It was flashing red and green lights, moving at a very fast pace toward the west. It all of a sudden disappeared."

A half hour later, she saw the UFO again "over in the Path Valley area." As she observed the UFO for 45 minutes, it "stood perfectly still...flashing red, green and sometimes a blue light." She described it as "a horizontal oval disk with a blackish ring around it."

Captain Peter W. Killian and co-pilot James Dee were flying American Airlines Flight 713, a DC-6, from Newark to Detroit. They were cruising at about 350 mph when, over Bradford, PA, Killian became aware of three glowing objects to the south of his route and above his altitude. He was able to ascertain that they were not stars.

Over Erie, PA, one of the objects left the formation, flew towards Flight 713. It then slowed down and returned to its original formation. Killian got on the radio to see if anyone else was seeing the objects, and received confirmation from another American Airlines pilot. There were other corroborative sightings to this event which for Killian lasted three quarters of an hour.

The official explanation was that a flight of KC-97 tankers was performing a refuelling operation of three E47 bombers at 17,000 feet at the time, and that is what was seen.

However, there was a definite military presence, and something was seen being carried out of the woods on a flatbed truck according to some witnesses. There is evidence that Project Moondust was involved. Project Moondust involved the retrieval of Soviet satellites and other space hardware. The official explanation for this event was "meteor". William C. Powell, of Radnor, Pa., was a pilot with 18,000 logged flight hours. He and a passenger, Miss Muriel McClave, were flying in Powell' s Luscombe in the Philadelphia area on the afternoon of 5/21/66 when an object that had been first spotted as it apparently followed an outbound flight of Navy jets from Willow Grove NAS made a sharp (non-banking) turn and headed for Powell's plane on a near-collision course. As the object passed close by, at a distance that Powell put at roughly 100 yards, they both got a good look at the object. It was circular in planform and had no wings or visible means of propulsion, both witnesses emphasized to me in interviews. The upper domed portion they described as "porcelain-white", while the lower discoid portion was bright red ("dayglow red" Powell put it). It was slightly below their altitude as it passed on their right, and Powell pointed out that it was entirely solid, for it obscured the distant horizon areas. His brief comment about its solidity and reality was, "It was just like looking at a Cadillac." He estimated its airspeed as perhaps 200 mph, and it moved in a steady, non-fluttering manner. He estimated its diameter at perhaps 20 feet. Miss McClave thought it might have been nearer 40 feet across. Each put the thickness-to- diameter ratio as about one-half. After it passed their starboard wing, Powell could see it only by looking back over his shoulder through a small aft window, but Miss McClave had it in full view when suddenly, she stated, it disappeared instantaneously, and they saw no more of it.
