At 9:15 p.m., a man and his wife were at their home near Sky Harbor Airport, when they noticed a bright yellow light in the southwest sky over the Gila River reservation. It stayed in the same place for about 20 minutes. The light moved down on the horizon from its position at about 20 degrees to the horizon, below and left of Orion's belt. Five minutes later, the light was back again. They got their binoculars and saw that it was a glowing orange sphere. The UFO appeared to be "spinning or rotating."

The same man and women saw the same UFO appear in the same place (Gila River reservation). Then a second one appeared. Some Air Force planes came in low on the horizon. As soon as the planes got near, the spheres disappeared. This time they were perfectly round, while the night before, the top and bottom were flat. The second one (UFO) seemed like a black dot in the middle of the spinning object.

Two nights later, the same man saw a UFO appear over the Gila River reservation aagain. It looked the same as the first night. Many neighbors came to their house to look from our balcony and viewed the UFO. Onlookers saw flashes of white light as it crept closer to the horizon at about 10 degrees. It came around 9 p.m., the same as the previous nights, and appeared in just about the same southwestern area of the sky. It would appear and disappear and stopped doing stuff at about 10 p.m.

Dr. Seymour Hess observed an object from the grounds of the Lowell Observatory. Spotting an unusual, small object moving from SE to NW, he had time to send his son after binoculars, which he used in the later portions of his observation. He said it looked somewhat disc-shaped, or perhaps somewhat like a tipped parachute. It had no wings or visible means of propulsion. Dr. Hess indicated that he probably had it in sight a total of about three minutes, during which it passed directly between him and a cloud, before disappearing (into a cloud Hess feels, though this point was not certain).

He saw the jet just north of my house when suddenly he caught a white oblong object directly overhead. It was at a very high altitude and was moving faster than anything he had ever seen. It was moving from east to west. There was no trail and no sound...and it was gone in less than three seconds.

On Sunday, April 27, 1997, at 2:30 p.m., a man was on the patio at his home in Paradise Valley, a suburb northeast of Phoenix, Arizona when he saw a bright flash in the northeast sky. A white metallic object was hovering at a fairly high altitude and had apparently expelled two long metallic objects that were falling and tumbling. He took three snapshots of the objects. The stationary object seemed almost self-luminous. When a plane approached, the unknown object 'winked' out, then back on again he added. It appeared to be elliptical in shape.

At 10:30 the man spotted something eerie at about 75 degrees elevation, 270 degrees azimuth west of Mars; a row of six softly-glowing objects traveling at about jet speed on a vector from south to north, without sound. This row of lights was about three times the length of an airliner at 5,000 to 10,000 feet traveling silently without strobes or running lights. The row pivoted like a compass needle and proceeded on a northwest trajectory before leaving our sight. The duration of the sighting was about three to seven seconds.

FAA Traffic Controller James V. Beardsley was aboard an American Airlines flight from Phoenix to Washington as an observer of pilot procedures. The aircraft was one of three in flight, the second being United Airlines and the third a National Guard plane. Four UFOs appeared ahead and the co-pilot called the air traffic control center who said they were tracking "unknowns" on radar near them. One of the UFOs was described as being 18 to 20 feet long, 12 to 14 feet across, and some 8 feet thick, the color of burnished aluminum. The other three were dart-shaped and smaller. The UFOs changed course to avoid the aircraft. Beardsley filed an official FAA report.

A 19 year old man and his friend were relaxing and looking for meteors while sitting on top of a car. A huge triangular object with several very dim reddish-orange lights passed directly over their heads, making absolutely no noise and no vibrations. It was going at a steady speed, but not very fast, maybe 25 to 30 miles per hour. It was much too low and not well lit enough for any airplane at that height. It sort of jolted, then shot off and disappeared.

At 4:30 p.m., an egg-shaped UFO flew over the University of Arizona campus. The overflight was witnessed by a young couple living in the area. As she went outdoors to view "uncharacteristically nasty-looking clouds drifting out of Tucson," the woman said, she became aware of an object hovering in the afternoon sky...It was weird because I was unable to discern how far away or how big it was. It was very close to the color of the clouds, making it even more difficult to determine its exact size or the distance...It was kind of whitish gray in color, and it was shaped like an inverted egg. For the first few minutes, the thing--it seemed to be traveling slowly straight up into the sky. There was no noise. But then it began to "haul ass across the sky", from east to west. I don't know how it was being propelled through the air. It just seemed to move effortlessly.
