(UFORDUP)
LEE COUNTY: A 38 year-old University of Alabama graduate reported that he had seen a UFO on September 25, 1998. While working on a house off Highway 14, three miles west of Auburn, he saw a high-flying UFO directly overhead at 1:35 PM. The UFO was "shiny white" and of roundish, oval or cylinder shaped. Speed was very fast! Altitude was over 14 miles high--possibly 30-70 miles high. Witness said the silvery UFO went from directly overhead to his 2 o'clock position in "2-3 seconds." It covered a third of the horizon, at extremely high altitude, in a very brief interval. Incredibly, the UFO had an apparent size of an 1/8 of an inch. This suggests a real size of approximately 400 feet long and more likely--as the UFO was flying where the atmosphere turns its darkest at extreme elevation--as much as 2,000 feet long, at 70 miles high. No sound or electrical interference (he had his radio on) was noted.

A man was doing some outdoor work when he noticed "a bright
white light" overhead near his home in northern Alabama. It was
"too low and too bright for a star," he said, "It remained in
the same spot for 30 minutes. When looking (at it) through
binoculars, it appeared like a diamond in the light--a full
array of colors. After a while, it began to fade out and became
dimmer as if moving away fast." The UFO completely disappeared
after five minutes.

J Vinsant writes, "At about 4:25 A.M. on December 5, 1999, I woke
up to see a bright white light had lit up my entire back yard.
I woke my wife and she also witnessed the light. The light then
slowly climbed up my windows at a very slow pace, as if it were
rising from the ground. We then watched the darkness of our house
light up for approximately ten to fifteen seconds. Just as the light
climbed up the window the darkness climbed up it also. Two minutes later,
I heard an explosion that rocked most of Birmingham and was passed off
as a meteor. I live south of Birmingham on a five hundred acre farm.
However, my concern is not the light or the sonic boom. My concern is
the UFO that I witnessed with my wife and her parents. After I heard the
sound I then walked outside and saw an oval/circular shape covered with
lights that was hovering over the mountain. The lights would rotate around
the dish and would flash bright like a light house when they shone in our
direction. We watched for an hour and a half. The UFO flew around and
hovered without making any sound. It would sometimes appear to be one
bright light and sometimes it appeared to be a complete circular saucer.

On Friday, July 31, 1998, at 6:30 p.m., the witness, D.M.K., was driving on U.S.
Highway 13 near Eldridge, Alabama, approximately 93 miles (148 kilometers)
northwest of Birmingham, when he spotted "a bright metallic colored light in the
sky."
"The light was moving in what I believe was a westerly direction," he reported. "Also, for an instant, it became brighter and then dimmed into invisibility. This happened so quickly that I couldn't point it out to my cousin who was sitting in the passenger seat."
D.M.K. described the UFO as "circular" in shape and "the size of a nickel at arm's length." "I had it in view five seconds," and it was "at about a 70 degree angle" up from the horizon. No blinking lights were visible on the object.

(UFORDUP 4/14/96)
At 8:30 p.m. Central time, a mother and daughter out stargazing
near Huntsville, Alabama spotted a UFO making its approach.
Looking into the sky directly overhead, they spied "a fuzzy
white light...like the Comet Hyakutake" descending in an arc
toward the horizon and moving very rapidly. The UFO halted its
plunge just above the treeline, and the woman kept it in view
for 15 minutes with her telescope. At first she thought it was a
meteor, but the UFO "did not decrease in its intensity" and was
"much larger than a star." According to the woman, the UFO
stopped, travelled horizontally to the left, stopped again,
travelled to the right a short distance and stopped for a third
time. The object then travelled straight up and straight down.
Then it veered leftward and disappeared.

ROBERTSDALE

(Filer's Files #9-1998)
The Mobile, Alabama Fox Television Channel 10 news on Monday evening, February
9, ran a videotape of a UFO taken by Christie Edwards of Robertsdale, Alabama.
The object was a bright silver object in a disc or ball shape. The object was
videotaped on Saturday, February 7th, about 25 miles southeast of Mobile.
Christie also saw a similar craft Monday morning but apparently was unable to
get this one on tape. The circular object was flying in a clear blue sky. She said, "It looked like a bright light, but it was real big. And it's nothing I've ever seen before," she told Fox news.
On February 21, 1998 EST in Semmes (Mobile County), Alabama, two witnesses on the front porch simultaneously noticed a red glow in the west at 11:40 PM Central Time. The UFOs shape was generally rectangular. The edges of the rectangle seemed to be bowed inward; although the outside edges of the rectangle were comparatively sharply defined. The interior of the rectangle was somewhat diffuse. One witness described the observation as "eerie," but stated "it must have been some kind of flare. "No aircraft were heard or seen, although the sighting location was within three miles of the municipal airport, which is directly south of witnesses. The light drifted downward from about 20 degrees to disappear further west of the point it was originally noticed. It disappeared below the tree-line west of witnesses at about 10 degrees elevation. The witness described the movement as "drifting" downward, diagonally. The craft was estimated to be at more than one quarter of a mile away. It's apparent size was 1" high by 1/3" wide at arm's length. The sighting lasted for one to two minutes. The glow was constant throughout the observation.
